Most of us have sat down at some point during our lives and have sought to express ourselves through poetry. For some of us the desire to express oneself in poetry is often a way of making sense of something. For others it is not so much about making sense but simply because it is fun to write.

Whatever the reason we write poetry, all of us unknown poets, tend to fall in or between 2 rather intertwined categories. Those of us who feel that our poetry is too personal to show to anyone and those of us who feel that it is probably not good enough to show to anyone.

It was with this in mind that we set about creating UnknownPoets.com. You the user are in total control of what poems you want to let people see.

Your work is your own and all copyright laws apply. Remember, as soon as you write a poem, it is copyrighted to you.

What this site allows you to do:

  • Unknownpoets supports almost all the major languages. This means that if your poem is written in another language you can put your poem on this site and it will be seen in that language.

  • After you have registered you will be able to return to the site and access the poems you have written at any time. Your Password and Login are known only to you and as such only you can make changes to your portfolio of poems.

  • You will have the options to either frame your poems using the template designs provided or if you are feeling more adventurous create you own.

Because you are allowed to upload 2 images per poem you can either use these images in your actual poem or else use the images to create your own backgrounds. You will need to spend a little bit of time playing with the system if you want to create your own backgrounds. Creating your own backgrounds also requires a little patience.

  • As each poem is created, so is a unique message board. This message board is only relevant to the poem that has been created. The message board is called Comments and you can find it above each poem when viewed. Do not confuse this with the Comments area below the poem. The Comments Area is for the Author to write supplementary notes about the poem.

  • A voting system has also been added.
